Over the past 23 years I have worked with all types of addictions, offending behaviours, people with mental health problems, families who struggle with loved ones caught up with addiction and those who struggle with life. Myself and my colleague Lorraine, wrote and published a book from our own life experience called (The Power of example) back in 2007. We then developed a programme from our own experiences of living in and with addiction and dysfunctional behaviours and opened a drop in centre to teach people how to deal with their emotions and thinking patterns and how to take responsibility for their own thoughts and feelings, instead of blaming others and their circumstances for what's going on in their lives. Spending quality time with people is essential, as change is very difficult and throughout this time those who participate begin to empower themselves by learning to take responsibility for their own behaviours and ways of thinking through the awareness and understanding being given, which in turn helps them to learn from their past mistakes. We have had amazing results, as our programme is based on love, compassion, awareness and understanding of oneself. It is written with no jargon and delivered so simply, people can identify and are able to understand and become aware of themselves and the negative habits they have learned throughout their life's. Our 21st Century approach and work has been supported by many people and organisations throughout Scotland, including South Lanarkshire College, Jordonhill University Counselling unit, Chartered Institute of Housing for Scotland, Glasgow's Helping Heroes, NHS Scotland, The Scottish recovery consortium, Careers Scotland Lanarkshire, The Scottish network of Family support groups, SPS, Perth prison, Faith in the community, Rangers charity foundation and many more.

This programme can be used as either a preventative measure; a tool to aid recovery; or a tool for education. It has been developed from wide personal experience of supporting people living and suffering from addiction; repeated offending; dysfunctional behaviours; and issues of mental health. The study material specifically targets a range of unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns. These patterns have been identified through working with programme participants over a significant number of years. The material is easily understood. It aims firstly to help programme participants to identify their own unhelpful thought processes and behaviours and secondly, to provide them with direction on how these thoughts and behaviours can be changed in order to improve their quality of life; mental health; and inter-personal relationships.Empowering By Example - Live SeminarsBelow are a list of live recorded seminars available to purchase on personal request. Please contact Gerry Murphy direct at: gerardmurphy416@googlemail.com1.
