• Basic electricity knowledge as it relates to telecommunications (through classes or on the job related training) including: reading & interpreting circuit diagrams, equipment drawings, & technical manuals
• Runs diagnostic test programs, analyses defects and/or tests various types of digital switches, IP and sonnet equipment. Uses various types of testing devices, e.g. volt-ohm meters, spectrum analyser, digital.
• Reviews and interprets work orders, wiring lists, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings and follows standard practices in the performance of job duties
• Responsible for the provisioning and maintenance of Central Office equipment including, but not limited to digital switches, subscriber loop carrier systems, DSL, Ethernet, POTS, digital and optical muxes.
• Maintenance, troubleshooting of T1, T3, OC3, OC12, OC48, OC192 circuits. Installation of fiber optic circuits at central office and customer locations.
• Familiar with the TBERD tester for DS1 & DS3 circuits testing and isolation of errors.
