As a senior associate in RMI's Carbon-Free Transportation team, I work on analysis and strategies to overcome the barriers holding back truck electrification, and to accelerate and unleash the benefits of transitioning the sector to zero-emissions.I'm a firm believer in the achievability of Net Zero, and the vast opportunities it presents for our world in areas beyond just climate: such as equity, air quality, and innovation. I developed these beliefs at the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, as part of the core team of analysts who helped take the narrative within the UK government from impossible to can-do. Through a cross-government program of engagement, research, and whole systems pathway modelling, we built up the evidence base on how the entire UK economy could transition to Net Zero, enabling the setting of the target.It was a desire to move from long-term target setting to working on overcoming barriers and moving solutions forward now which first drew me to RMI, with its strong reputation as a think-and-do tank driving forward change in the global energy system towards a clean, prosperous, zero-carbon future for all. Curiosity about how the world works has been one of my driving forces since a young age and my early interest in Physics, and I thrive on problem solving ways to make it better. Whether that is through quantitative analysis, creative idea generation, or research. It takes a lot of different perspectives to make positive change happen, and I am energised by collaborating with other passionate individuals to advance change.
