I have been entrusted to take an idea or concept and materialize it to real life through creative design and problem solving. Part of my experience in this capacity was to determine the fastest and most effective solution to meet the requirements when asked to do so for an experiment set-up or mechanism. To accomplish my tasks, I usually applied the fundamental concepts learned from my course work, I employed engineering modeling software and used machining tools such as mills, lathes and CNC machines. In my assistantship, I was not limited to only designing, manufacturing, integrating and testing hardware; I have also presented our work and relevant progress in local, national, and even international conferences. The conferences I have attended are: SPIE Defense and Sensing Conferences 2010 in Orlando Florida, Next-Generation Suborbital Researchers Conference (NSRC-2010) in Boulder Colorado, and the 2010 ASME Mechanical Engineering Congress in Vancouver, Canada. I have also attended the annual AMP conference held at New Mexico State University and URA Symposiums every semester since 2009. On several occupations I have had the opportunity to describe my research in the public forum for the International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS 2010).

I lead a multidisciplinary group of students in satellite technology project. This work involved managing a team and coordinating other people’s work, which entails organizing my group members, staying actively engaged with every team member, and assuming responsibilities for their progress. The goal of project was to design and build a flight experiment system to test a spacecraft inertia identification method in micro-gravity environment. The suborbital flight experiment will be performed to validate a robotics-based method of identifying the inertia properties of an in-orbit spacecraft in 2015 during a second launch. A robotics-based experiment is intended to collect data in order to compute the inertia parameters (i.e., the mass, center of mass and inertia tensor). These inertia properties are crucial for spacecraft’s control system. Working in this project has not only introduced me to technical knowledge such as sensor development, sensor calibration, data analysis using computer software, electronics and planning but also allowed me to develop and practice interpersonal and leadership capability and skills. Duties:1) Designed, tested and implemented special equipment, tools and methods. Assisted group team members in design, fabrication, testing of engineering equipment.2) Performed routine engineering calculations and simulations using software tools.3) Aided in reports, grants and technical presentations for conferences and university.3) Successfully launch experimental suborbital payload developed at NMSU.
