Role: Technical Business Analyst/SME Date: Feb 2021 – Dec 2021I formed part of the operational team that was responsible for scaling a predictive maintenance tool to various engineering assets across four Anglo American business units. The tool makes use of machine learning algorithms to analyse changes in streaming signals from sensors on and around critical production equipment. This permits detection of early onset of equipment degradation through multi-variate differences across all the streaming signals.Role: Mechanical Engineer Date: Feb 2019 – Jan 2021As part of my practical exposure as a BLAST graduate I was seconded to Anglo American Platinum, Amandelbult, to obtain practical exposure to our mining and plant operations. During this time, I was exposed to all Engineering related activities in the mining industry as well as the equipment that is used to retrieve mineral from underground and opencast operations.During my time my roles included:Acting Section Engineer (MHSA 2.13.6.1 Appointee)• I was responsible for the safe installations, operation and maintenance of engineering equipment, buildings, structures and tanks.• I was responsible for ensuring legal compliance of all engineering equipment with the Mine Health and Safety Act.• I was responsible for drafting operating procedures and mandatory codes of practice.
