Company liaison with construction designers, suppliers and contractors for both operations and maintenance.Company representative on the following redevelopment projects:Instrumental in the automation upgrades for the property. Redeveloped Berth 5 to provide rail car unloading, storage, rail tracks, conveyors and a new shiploader for the grain industry while maintaining the flow of customer’s product. Redeveloped Berth 4 to provide a new rotary rail car dumper, spiral rail track system, conveyors and storage for Sulphur while maintaining the flow of customer’s product.Enclosed concentrate sheds for environmental reasons. Constructed new concentrate storage building and conveyors for storage of specialty concentrate. Installed and had certified by Weights and Measures Canada the world’s first legal for trade belt scale 0.1 % accuracy. Relocated concentrate receiving and load-out operation including rail yard and conveyors from adjacent site onto company leased property complete with new environmentally updated buildings. Installed new security systems. Constructed new pulp sheds for Berth 2/3, new three-storey office building and new site service building complete with workshops and warehouse. Replaced Berth 1 shiploader and conveyors as part of an environmental upgrade while maintaining the flow of customer’s product. Rehab of the liquids facility including rail and truck loading racks.Upgrades to water treatment plants. Participated in the installation of slurry wall environmental protection system.

Mine Maintenance SuperintendentCurragh Resources Inc. 1988 - 1991Faro, YukonRecruited by Curragh for the re-commission/start up of one of the largest lead/zinc mines in the world. Member of the team charged with turnaround of the operation to reduce maintenance and operating costs and increase productivity. Responsible for all maintenance and maintenance planning for this mine that grew from one open pit to three open pits and an underground mine.Completely overhauled maintenance procedures, introducing a planned maintenance program for all equipment, which resulted in increased engine life on trucks from less than one year to three years, with no catastrophic failures, doubling of bulldozer and loader usability, and significant decrease in operations and maintenance costs.Designed and installed new final-drive four-bolt caps on bulldozers, significantly reducing drive-train breakage and downtime. These have been adopted by Caterpillar as standard equipment.Major projects:Designed and built 50 mile 25 KV power line. Erected and commissioned 1 large mining shovel and 20 large mining trucks

General Maintenance ForemanFording Coal Ltd. 1972 - 1988Elkford, BcOriginally sent to Fording Coal for startup and commissioning of coal process plant. Beginning as supervisor before completing journeyman's formal training, took on increasing responsibility for mine and processing plant maintenance, and construction and maintenance of the mine's electrical supply (where all major equipment and trucks are electrically powered) managing as many as 18 direct reports and crews of 135. Developed mechanic – electrician teams to resolve vehicle fleet problems on-site, significantly reducing downtime and increasing maintenance productivity.Developed considerable expertise with P&E mining shovels, such that P&E design engineers used his services as a consultant when problems arose in other mine operations.Major projects:Erected and commissioned 5 mining shovels. Participated in the rehabilitation of the fleet of 120 tonne mining trucks (22 trucks).Planned and executed mid-life rebuild of Marion dragline 24/7 for 45 days with 160 multi-trade tradesmen involved. Maintenance and upgrading of the dragline included the very difficult task of lowering and raising the boom without damage.Constructed 20 miles per year of 15 KV power line over 8 years. Possessed B.C. Hydro and Transalta power switch permit for 138KV power line. Member of team responsible for relocation of primary 138KV substation (out of a mining zone).
