Light, camera, action! Technologist with a passion for Visual Media production. I like working on solutions where creativity and innovation in software, hardware and services meet. I try to balance R&D activities with pragmatic building, striving to bring together the best of software- and hardware technologies in solid, commercially shippable systems. At StyleShoots, me and the team focus on creating and shipping technical solutions in the domain of Photo and Video production. I started as a technical software developer, working on camera and light control, parallel processing, image and color quality. Over the years we scaled our software team, our range of products and our fleet, with me also part becoming part of StyleShoots management with a CTO role. My current daily activities extend way beyond facilitating the team of software engineers, such as working on product and technology roadmap, collaboration with third party hardware vendors and software integrators, sales and operations. In 2022, StyleShoots was acquired by Profoto, a leader in the Professional Photography Industry, where I continue on joint R&D for StyleShoots products.My academic time at the Computer Science department of Delft University of Technology focused on research and software development in the field of Computer Graphics and Data Visualization. My PhD was on software architectures and techniques for 3D interaction for Virtual Reality. The following years of research, supervising and teaching as a post-doc and assistant professor were characterized by interdisciplinary work in a variety of scientific application domains. I specialized in rapid prototyping techniques for designing and developing interactive 3D graphics tools, 3D scanning and tracking and visualization applications, including technologies such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Multi-Touch Displays.
