About Daniel Weimann

My career began in Silicon Valley in the mid-90's, a time of dramatic technological change and upheaval. My experience in college and the Valley, led me to become a deep generalist, developing skills across a wide range of disciplines. Today, I have nearly 30 years of design and development experience across a wide range of platforms, methods, and mediums. I bring a strong blend of creative talent and leadership, backed by a deep level of technical knowledge and experience. I've seen a lot in my time and I feel that gives me a unique perspective to MacGyver myself out of those tricky design and development challenges. Above all else, I'm fanatical about the craft, and take pride in doing great work and producing results. My work as a Senior Designer and Platforms Director was about maintaining a consistent user experience across a variety of platforms. Today, the user experience flows between a large network of interconnected touch points and my job as a designer is advocating for the user and making the experience more seamless while balancing the business goals. Much of my job is about understanding how things connect and mapping the customer and stake holder touch points. I have years of experience working with development teams and find that I do a good job balancing the needs of the visual and interactive design with the technical underpinning that hold it in place. I have an illustration and animation background, coupled with many years of video and motion experience. I am an avid digital sketcher and love to work visually as a way of laying out projects and designs. I keep up on the latest design and technology trends and am always looking for better, more efficient ways of working digitally and improving myself.

  • Dat Solutions
    Sr. Web Developer/Designer
    Dat Solutions Jun 2015 - Aug 2021
    Beaverton, Or
My path at DAT was not a straightforward one, but I was originally brought on board as a senior-level, deep generalist, with a wide-ranging skillset, and a diverse background in problem-solving and all things digital. In 2017 I began work on a revamped marketing web presence for DAT. In 2017, I led the design and development of the first mobile-responsive web re-work on the existing legacy CMS. The site redesign coincided with a partial redesign of the SSU (Self Sign Up) process, so it would be mobile-responsive. In 2018, I led the move away from Sitecore and kickstarted development on the replacement site built using a modern web stack and using ProcessWire as the new CMF/CMS. Other responsibilities included working with engineering, IT, devOps, and other departments and worked on hiring another web developer for the busy marketing site. Since late 2019, I've been working full-time as the lead web developer for the site. Technologies used: PHP 7.x, Apache Server 2.4.x, Ubuntu/CentOS, MariaDB/MySQL 10.x/5.x, UIKit 3.x, JavaScript, Processwire 3.x, Sitecore 6-8.x. Key functionality included: Custom admin for content editors, Custom blog migration and development, consuming internal Rest APIs, integration with Marketo and SFMC, Form handling and processing, eCommerce, SEO and optimization, AWS integration, server migration, management, and wrangling. In 2015, I joined the department to help push the brand, standardize video treatments, and help overhaul the tradeshow presence. 2016 saw a tight-knit design process with Alex Epp, where we were given the opportunity to overhaul the company's brand, a project that touched logomarks, collateral, digital, video, the product suite, and even building signage. This lead to a collaboration with Alex Epp on overhauling the expansive set of tradeshow properties and presentations, and included new booth pieces, 10 new touch-based digital kiosks, 9 panel video wall, multiple lightboxes, and much more.
