Computational and Experimental Investigation of a Column Photobioreactor (PBR)• Developed computational model in STAR-CCM+ for the multiphase system consists liquid (Eulerian approach) and gas bubbles (Lagrangian approach).• Used low Re number k-epsilon turbulence model to predict flow pattern near the wall of PBR.• Investigated thermo-fluid behavior within a PBR to understand the better growth of algae.• Designed different types of spargers/diffusers to study the flow pattern inside the PBR and how the flow pattern affects the hydrodynamics and the heat transfer inside the PBR. • Used multiple spargers at a different spacing to study suitable bubble flow pattern to achieve proper mixing inside the photobioreactor, thus enable proper growth of algae.• Compared experimental and computational model of thermal profiles within a column PBR.★ Courses: Introduction to Physics I Lab (PHYS 111L), University Physics I Lab (PHYS 211L).★ Conducted laboratory experiments related to fundamental concepts of physics (algebra-level & calculus-level), topics include classical mechanics, thermodynamics and waves.
