I joined Canon Singapore in October 2009 as a marketing manager in charge of charting the brand positioning, marketing communications and through-the-line campaigns for the company’s DSLR product line in Singapore as well as the South and Southeast Asia region; after spending 10 years in the field of photography, journalism and editorial work. Currently, I am the Singapore team lead for product and marketing planning for consumer products - cameras and home printers.Stationed in Canon India from April through October 2014, I was tasked with building the framework for key initiatives to drive the adoption of Canon’s imaging products and services in India. These initiatives included a new outreach program targeting schools, advocacy building and influencer marketing as well as major activations such as the Canon PhotoMarathon.I spent the early years of my career as a photographer and writer for Singapore’s Ministry of Defence, a stint that brought me on assignments across continents to areas including East Timor, the Persian Gulf, Australia, Europe and the United States.After leaving the Ministry, I worked as a photojournalist for a Singapore newspaper before becoming a freelance photographer. My last port-of-call before joining Canon was at Reuters’ Global Pictures Desk where I spent four and a half years as a picture editor, a job that allowed me to witness the world’s defining moments in history through photography. I was also very privileged to be part of the global teams that covered the soccer World Cup 2006 in Germany and Beijing Olympics 2008.Always hungry for ideas, adventures, interesting food and in search of the next great challenge, I am ever-ready to share my views on marketing, photography, lifestyle trends, technology, design and more.
