Genome Alberta is a publicly funded corporation that initiates, funds, and manages genomics research and partnerships. Genome Alberta strives to be the leading source of information and administration related to genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics and bioethics research in Alberta. We are dedicated to informing students, researchers, research organizations, our partners, and the public regarding opportunities and challenges in genomics and proteomics, and in encouraging the development of a Life Sciences research industry in Alberta. To date, I have been responsible for the development and scientific oversight of approximately $550 Million in research project funding. I have served as a Director for the Centre since 2016. Between 2022 and June 2024 I served as its interim Board Chair. In this role I reestablished the governance structure for the Centre including recruitment of new Board members, establishment of Board Committees. With the governance structure in place I stepped down as Chair in June 2024. I continue to serve on the Board as a Director

Best Future Forests – Alberta Forest Information and Genetic Resource Management Decision Support System (BFF-AFIRMS). The goal of BFF-AFIRMS is to digitalize tree inprovement resources and management in Alberta, aiming to ensure responsible stewardship of the forest (tree) genetic resources on AB's public lands while considering the pressing climate challenges and increasing public demand for sustainable forest ecosystems and forest products.

The Senate creates a bridge between the university and the wider community by representing the public interest; promoting the university on local, national and international levels; influencing decision makers; fostering student interests; and promoting and recognizing excellence.Senators attend regular meetings, participate in ongoing standing committee work, hold special events throughout the year and provide a continued and highly visible contact point for all stakeholders to communicate with the university. I current serve as a member of the Executive Committee and chair the Honors Committee.
