A Project Coordinator at AMIT-Alfred Mann Institute at the Technion Ltd. The long-term goal of the project was to subject an anti-cancer agent existing in an undisclosed animal's serum to a semi-industrial manufacturing, towards assessing its consequences in clinical trials. The project was scientifically headed by Prof. Aaron Ciechanover, laureate of the 2004 Nobel Prize in chemistry.

SimeTRA Pharmaceuticals a former privately own company, has focused in research of molecular targeted-therapies for the treatment of cancer, based on a tumor-suppressor and a pro-apoptotic protein named ARTS. Although a murine breast cancer model had indicated a significant reduction of tumors' volume upon local peptide administrations, the Israeli investors decided to terminate their investments. Apart from being a project leader throughout these years, I have conducted the mentioned in-vivo session on Nude mice at Harlan Laboratories, Israel.

Apart from leading the molecular biology group during the switch from the "proof of concept" level to concept implementation towards mass production of recombinant proteins, I ran the following long-term projects:1. A comparative examination of novel plant promoters, aiming at increasing protein yield of recombinant proteins by optimizing their transcription level (collaboration with Evogene, and few academic laboratories).2. Over-expression of the human Follicle Stimulating Hormone (h-FSH) in carrot cells (collaboration with Ferring pharmaceuticals). Independently, I have over-expressed three splicing variants of the glycoprotein hormone alpha chain (collaboration with Compugen, Israel, see the patent application below). As one splicing variant had been found biologically functional in a cell-based assay, it became a promising target protein added to Protalix's pipeline.3. I have developed a genetic procedure monitoring the copy number of any introduced T-DNA molecule, aimed at ruling out any genetic instability in the company's transgenic cell lines. I personally implemented this procedure on a routine basis, under GMP conditions.
