Gilbert is an Environmental, Health, Safety & Social Professional with extensive experience in large infrastructural and development projects such as railways, roads, port, Solar PV Plants, HV overhead transmission lines, mining and currently Geothermal plant mainly in Kenya and West Africa.I hold a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science from Egerton University and licensed Environmental & Social Impact Assessments Practioner. I also have a certificate in International Occupational Health & Safety(IGC) from NEBOSH and Safety Excellence from Kinross Gold Corporation.I have consulted in preparation and delivery of several Environmental & Social Impact Assessments Studies, safety audits, compliance and enforcement, preparation of ESMPS ,RAP & ESIA Reports.     Consulted as an Environmental & and Social advisor for a Consortium of 3 International firms tasked with construction supervision and design review for the Mombasa-Nairobi-Naivasha Standard Gauge Railway Project on behalf of Kenya Railways.My key responsibility was ensuring the project’s compliance with the client’s Environmental, Health, safety and social management plans as well as lender’s requirements. Key duty stations were Nairobi SGR Terminus, Nairobi ICD Port and its Access Roads, Nairobi National Park Super Bridge and Ngong Railway Tunnel.My key accomplishments are; Delivery of Nairobi National Park Super Bridge with zero LTI nor any human-wildlife conflict. Successful holing through of 4.5km Ngong Railway Tunnel with zero fatality. Restoration of the park’s degraded habitat disturbed during construction of 6.5km viaduct across the park. Actively took part in the project’s CSR activities such as the Upgrading of facilities at RTI, construction and equipping of new school library in Embulbul Primary, water project for Kimuka Community, and rehabilitation of access roads along the project routes. Implemented an effective grievance redress mechanism to proactively address the project’s stakeholders’ complaints, concerns, suggestions, and requests. Provided assistance in liaising between the EPC Contractor and the project stakeholders such as government agencies, labor authorities, county government, security, local NGOs, local community etc.
