Frank is a family man, a hard-worker, a man who stands up for others. He’s lived in the region for the past 30 years and has actively served Queensland in the roles of Councillor, senior public servant, manager and teacher. Frank has strong family values and together with his wife Julieanne, he has three adult children and three grandchildren. Frank Gilbert is passionate about the region and is committed to representing all people of our region. His hard work approach , real life experiences and thorough understanding of the needs of people in Dawson will bring a fresh approach to representing this dynamic region of North Queensland in our federal parliament.Frank has spent 4 Years as a local Councillor and implemented a water efficiency program through the ‘My H2O’ Web site and Australia’s most advanced automatic water meter reading initiative as well as responding to rate payer issues. In the past he has been the director of the Queensland Government’s Office of Rural & Regional Communities advocating for rural and regional communities.Giving his personal time to the community is a large part of Frank’s life. He continues to volunteer as a Lifeline Telephone Counsellor and is the current Chairman of Mackay School Chaplaincy. He is an active member of Rotary and in 2010 he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of community service.Frank serves on the management committee of Mackay’s St Vincent de Paul Housing Committee that oversees a range of accommodation for homeless people and those at risk of homelessness.
