As a team member with Ragar, I took on many roles for operations. As dispatch I would create/update all computer work for drivers, setup appointments, prepare paperwork and send dispatch information to drivers amongst many other duties. As planner, i would plan out all NB and SB loads keeping a keen eye on driver’s schedules, customer time constraints and recovering any breakdowns. My duties included many other elements. As an inspector for Landstar I conducted inspections on all In and out traffic, ensured safe ingress and egress from facility as well as conducting inventory for over 700 trailers daily.

Planning I focused on managing and dispatching OTR drivers, taking into account their destination needs and the availability of the freight. My area of planning was not limited to Laredo, it included; the entire Rio Grande valley, Eagle pass, El Paso, Nogales, Yuma as well as a small portion of San Diego. I had to stay in constant communication with all the driver managers in order to have up to date information on driver’s status and special requests. Communication and decision are the skills that helped me complete these tasks. Immediate supervisor – Bob Richardson, Terminal Manager.

My tasks varied from Helping customers with sales to helping my warehouse forklift team communicate with supervisors and customers. As Customer Service I would assist any patrons from home owners to contracted masons. Quickly acquiring enough understanding of the products, in order to speak to a layman and a veteran mason were crucial in becoming dependable in that position. Keeping inventory of materials in the warehouse as well as the yard was another responsibility I took on. As Sales Rep I helped home owners choose from over 300 different types of brick to suit their needs. Efficiency in Microsoft office and retaining information was crucial in being adept at this position, being charming helped prompt customers to employ our services. My assignments revolved around communicating with drivers directly, helping them with any situations involving paperwork and proper documentation essential for them to drive legally in the united states. Other functions included verifying weights and preforming Haz-Mat Inspections ensuring both safety and legality, in accordance with the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration’s guidelines.
