Owner of Charles Douglas Gilding Studio in Seattle, WA. with forty years gilding experience. Charles is a dedicated teacher in the gilding arts instructing an international body of students through in-person classes and Online through Zoom. Formerly of New York City where he apprenticed in glass gilding while a member of Visual Merchandising as a Corporate Director for the gilding and architectural signage department at Saks Fifth Avenue. Charles is specialized in gilded glass églomisé mirrors, restoration of gilded antiques, and custom gilding of frames, furniture, and architectural elements as well as water gilded panels for use in egg tempera, oil, and acrylic painting. Formerly the senior editor of The Gilder's Tip, the journal of the Society of Gilders he has written numerous gilding articles for the Seattle-based Evergreen Picture Framers Guild and for his own gilding blog which can be found at www.gildingstudio.blogspot.com.
