About Marc Gillespie
I am currently the Senior Vice Provost for Clinical Operations, Graduate Research, Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Analytics in the Office of the Provost.The Senior Vice Provost oversees and facilitates all research activities by faculty and students, the development of research commercialization strategies, graduate student research, university-wide assessment, and the University’s accreditation operations. Excellent strategic plans are characterized by data informed road maps, data informed decision, and continuous assessment. The Sr. Vice Provost leads Institutional Effectiveness (IE) encompassing the Office of Data and Analytics, Institutional Research, and the Office of Assessment and Accreditation. The OIE aligns the University data arms with the University assessment and accreditation operations to ensure that our collective priorities are executed in a strategic manner. I earned my doctorate in Oncological Sciences from the University of Utah in 1998, was a research fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and joined St. John’s faculty in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in 2000. In 2017, I became the Associate Dean of Graduate Education, Research, and Assessment in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, developing data informed approaches to student performance prediction, accreditation, program development, and curriculum assessment. I chair the University’s Institutional Biosafety Committee, Graduate Council, and Co-chair the University Assessment Committee. I created and direct the University’s Clinical Venture Laboratory, a New York State Department of Health clinical CLIA certified laboratory and innovation hub. I have published more than 150 research papers on topics including molecular toxicology RNA biology, and SARS-CoV-2 pathway curation and am an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at the NYU Langone Health New York University Grossman School of Medicine, and a Biocurator and Editor on the Reactome project, an international, open-source, open-access, biological pathway database.I am a lecturer in pharmacogenomics, public health, human anatomy & physiology, toxicogenomics, molecular biology, with experience from academia and industry to public health policy and higher education assessment and administration.Specialties: AssessmentCollegiate Accreditation ManagementProject Information Work-flow DesignNIH/NFS/Private Grant PreparationBiocurationPharmacogenomicsMolecular BiologyProteomicsToxicology
