I joined Burnett Associates' Publications division, which later re-branded as direct marketing agency, Burnett Works. We created communications to support fundraising: everything from brand identities to annual reviews, supporter magazines to direct mail appeals, inserts, press ads, legacy campaigns, and digital comms. As Development Director, I also headed up most of our new business initiatives, and delivered a growing offering of strategic and consultancy projects.

This was maternity leave cover for Kate Bowen, one of Taylor McKenzie's Directors, and combined account direction, production management and new business development. I'd previously worked with Kate and Craig for years both as a client and freelance editor. And this was the perfect opportunity to help them grow their portfolio of charity clients.

Over time, I specialised in editorial, publicity and PR roles, editing/designing most of our information and campaign materials, or working with external designers. I also did lots of media and PR work, briefing journalists, distributing press releases, acting as spokesperson in interviews etc.

Started here as General Secretary, supporting the Director and campaigner in a wide range of campaigns and events, helping run the office and outside events, and acting as spokesperson for the Society.

I was based in the London office of the Veg Soc, providing admin, editorial and PR support for campaigns, events and information materials.
