The Vancouver Sun Children's Fund is a charity created by the Vancouver Sun to help our community's most vulnerable children. For more than 30 years, journalists at The Sun have shared stories of children with special needs and those who are so impoverished that they start their school days with empty stomachs, inadequate clothing and other disadvantages that make it difficult for them to learn.As a member of the board of The Vancouver Sun Children's Fund, I was among the co-founders of our current initiative Adopt-a-School, which has raised close to $2 million to help our community's neediest children.

Founded in 1986, The Jack Webster Foundation carries on the legacy of one of Western Canada's best-known and most influential reporters, Jack Webster, by promoting and recognizing the achievements of BC based reporters with the Jack Webster Awards. And by contributing to professional development through the foundation's scholarship program and legal seminar for journalists.

• Researched and wrote daily news stories and features, a Digital Life blog and tech column, news stories and features for The Vancouver Sun, Canada’s largest western daily newspaper, its Web site, vancouversun.com/digitallife and for the Postmedia network, which goes across Canada.• Worked on special projects and stories in news, business, and lifestyles and for other sections of The Vancouver Sun, both for online and in multimedia versions.• Developed story and project ideas and work with print editors, photographers, videographers and Web editors in creating feature specials for The Sun• Filmed and edited short videos for online news posts, maintain a comprehensive social media presence • Sought-after speaker, and panelist on topics relating to journalism in a multimedia age and social media, highlights its use and impact on various sectors of business and society.

As general assignment reporter for The Vancouver Sun, I was awarded the coveted National Newspaper Award as part of The Sun’s team covering the Clifford Robert Olson killings.I met the families of the victims of Clifford Olson, who shared their stories of family members they lost to these most horrific murders, which I wrote as part of our coverage on this tragedy.
