•Direct all services provided by the Nursing Department to include Medical/Surgical, Surgical Services, Obstetrics, Intensive Care Unit, Infusion Services and Emergency Room Services. As a member of management, ensure the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, programs and services constant with the facility's goals and objectives by consulting with facility management in designing and providing total patient care and services. •Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, federal, and regulatory agency regulations as well as changes in the health care field. Develop short-and-long-term plans for the nursing staff and other employees, which include patient safety goals, nursing staff education, health, and public policy, legal, ethical issues, and consumer health care issues.•Plans and manages staffing functions to include hiring, maintaining appropriate ratios, evaluations, disciplinary action, and work with an education interdisciplinary model to review, develop and evaluate the education needs of nurses. •Plan and develop plans utilizing the Pathway to Excellence philosophy to develop and involve staff as part of a team approach to optimize personal growth. Function at a high level to ensure evidence-based practices are utilized operationally and clinically.•Prepare, review and analyze departmental budgets to maintain financial budget, provide safe patient care, operate using correct equipment and allocate funds for optimal operational needs. Participate in operational auditing and review practices.•Active in case review for patient transfer, swing bed and discharge planning. Involved in several committees involving patient care, planning, review, as well as, operational committees, to include strategic operations and planning•Maintain a positive culture for nurses with effective communication, team involvement and an environment that fosters professionalism.
