I count it all joy and a blessing to have spent all my adult life living and/or working in National Parks and Protected Areas across the western US. This gave me the opportunity to have wonderful subject matter and inspiration for photography literally right in my backyard. This site is intended to be interactive, educational, and inspirational with a good dose of photography. I have worked as a wilderness ranger, trail crew supervisor, interpretive park ranger, interdisciplinary resource specialist, park planner and project manager, environmental compliance specialist, and an outdoor educator and outreach/comms specialist. It has been a privilege to have jobs protecting amazing places and traditional resources such as the air, water, wildlife, and plants since 1984. Beginning in 2020 I have been working in earnest to help parks and partners protect the "sensory resources" called natural sounds and night skies. Protecting and enhancing these resources are just as foundational as the air we breath and the water we drink. As one who has indigenous roots in Mexico, the earth and sky are seen as one and we must be good stewards of both in order to have a healthy planet.
