Working with Specialized Geriatric Services to run the Seniors Care Exercise program in Simcoe/Muskoka; we triage potential clients and perform both physical and cognitive assessments to determine their eligibility. We run a 12 week program of classes which includes: Specialized exercise program focusing on LE strengthening, balance and ROM. Brain games, designed to stimulate clients brains both critically and creatively. Last but not least, education, Teaching on a wide range of topics that are important to the population in which we serve. We use various methods to accommodate for all abilities. The good news? Our data has shown that participants have improved LE strength, balance and have helped to keep them independent longer and safer in their current residences.

Designing and implementing innovative physical and cognitive exercise programs for individual residents and monitoring their progress.A focus in psychomotor behaviour, exercise rehabilitation and psychological and movement assessment. Responsibilities:-Oversee/manage the program for active living program-Manage occupational therapists, physiotherapists and assistants. -Work with High school and University Co-op students; teaching them about the role Kinesiology plays in long term care and falls prevention management.-Work one on one with residents to improve strength, balance, flexibility and coordination.-Create customized group programs for residents. -Report to MOHLTC in regards to PAL program and how it is preventing falls. -Managing the falls prevention program; and finding unique solutions to prevent falls and injury from falls.-Member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
