Leading and developing the retail operations of IKEA Austria in order to strengthen the competitive position. Tripled profits in the first year and introduced a sustainable business model. Milan Area, Italy

Together with the country retail manager, led the development of IKEA Italy, with a focus on expansion and growth across the region.The IKEA expansion in Italy was behind the pace of neighbouring regions. Identified several key market indicators that presented significant room for growth, and established expansion specific teams. During 4 years in this position, IKEA Italy grew to become one of the largest revenue generators for the EU region. • Contributed to the opening of 9 new stores• Set up and refined the logistical operations for the region. Created teams with a renewed focus, bringing knowledge in-house, improving overall efficiency and ensuring KPI’s were exceeded. • Founded the e-commerce platform for IKEA Italy, which was non-existent before. During this time, the platform was one of the highest performing e-commerce platforms in the country.

Amsterdam Area, Netherlands

Responsible and accountable for warehousing, transport purchasing, distribution and forecasting for the entire region.• Oversaw the build of new distribution centres, on average one a year. Warehouse capacity in the region was suboptimal, built specialised teams, approved additional budget, which gave IKEA the infrastructure to grow across the region.• Initiated customer distribution model to support e-commerce across the region. This ensured IKEA could offer a digital platform to its customers and deliver products as requested in a timely fashion. This was critical at the time as net adoption became increasingly popular.

Started in 1990 as a product developer /purchaser for domestic appliances and garden furniture. The last 3 years responsible for the sales and purchase department. Also for a sister company at that time called "Holland Jonker" (wholesaler in glass, porcelain etc). Geertjes had also 2 soft franchise systems, one with 75 shops connected and one with 150 shops.
