First Technologist - Material Science
CurrentIn recent years I have deepened my knowledge on material science in particular related to PVD techniques of superconducting thin film deposition and ultra‐cleaning techniques of copper components for low radioactivity experiments. In parallel, I'm involved in the design, construction and commissioning of ultra‐high vacuum systems and cryostats used to measure the properties of SC cavities in RF. I have been involved both in mechanical design and in following and coordinating the various phases of construction and design of electrical and cryogenic hydraulics systems, also connected to the various safety aspects. As Head of the Materials Science and Technology Service for Nuclear Physics I coordinate a working group active in different European and INFN projects, which follow an intense R&D in the field of superconducting thin films for accelerating cavities (QWR, 6 GHz, 1.5 GHz, etc.) and performs ultra‐cleaning treatments for low background experiments as well as R&D on AR coatings. I also have an extensive experience in the field of technology transfer, having carried out various activities on behalf of third parties in particular focused on the design of prototype of PVD coating systems.
