The research topic was the study of neuroendocrine neoplasms and their possible therapeutic approaches. Pancreatic and broncho-pulmonary neuroendocrine neoplasms were studied under different points of view starting from the identification of an effective 3D setting and continuing with the exploration of what there is beyond already approved therapies. The investigation of tumour microenvironment as new approach for drug resistance comprehension was also evaluated.The main techniques were: 2D and 3D cell cultures, primary cultures, cell viability assays, caspase activity assays, protein extraction protocols, Western blot analysis, alpha-screen surefire assay, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, bacteria transformation and cells transfection.

The focus of the research was the study of tumour microenvironment in broncho-pulmonary neuroendocrine neoplasms and breast cancer through the use of different immortalized cell lines cultured in 2D and 3D. The main performed protocol were cell viability assays, caspase activation assays, Western blot analysis, 2D and 3D invasion assay, immunofluorescence, DNA extraction, bacteria transformation/ amplification, cellular transfection.

Curricular Internship during master degree. The focus of the research was the study of pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms and their resistance to one of the main agent approved for this malignancy, Sunitinib. Chemoresistance was evaluated through several approaches and new therapeutic approaches were suggested in order to overcome this resistance.

The main area of interest during this internship was the evaluation of the well-known inhibitor Sunitinib on pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms though the use of an immortalized cell line. 3D spheroids were obtained and the impact of the drug on cell viability/proliferation were evaluated though different assays and protocols.

Internship in a research laboratory where I learnt how to work in a lab and techniques as cell culture, western blot, immunofluorescence, JC1-MMP assay and others.
