I worked in the MySolution division (production) and dealt with the following surgeries and their corresponding products: total hip arthroplasty, total shoulder arthroplasty, periacetabular osteotomy and osteotomies in general. The overall process allows to produce 3D printed patient-specific medical devices to assist the surgeon to achieve the planned implant positioning or deformity correction. • CT images quality control and 3D segmentation of the anatomy in Mimics;• 3D surgery plan proposal through an in-house software;• Patient specific device design in SolidWorks;• Customer management and interaction with their sales representatives to meet their requirements;• Cooperation with marketing and R&D departments to satisfy surgeons’ specific requests; • Training and support for junior colleagues.

Graduation projectI worked on the material characterization of human atherosclerotic coronary arteries through the combination of US measurements and inverse FE modelling. Material properties of the atherosclerotic plaque are essential for accurate stress analyses, which might allow plaque rupture risk assessment.• Identification of plaque macro components on MR images;• US and MR images registration through the software elastix;• Inverse FE modelling of the coronary plaques through ABAQUS and Python.

I worked on the computational insonification of a pig lung model in order to assess the acoustic properties of both healthy and disease state tissues, such as fibrosis. The goal was to verify the feasibility of Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) starting from the insonificated lung.• Created a 3D model of pig lungs and airways through ITK-Snap, starting from CT images.• Remeshed the lung model in Ansys in order to reduce the amount of polygons.• Generated the base airway tree through a MATLAB application whose input is the CT image file.• Algorithmically generated the whole airway tree with a MATLAB code.• Simulated sound diffusion inside both the healthy and sick lung through MATLAB.
