- Head of Science (Medical Physics) Responsible for defining, maintaining and developing a science strategy and capability across groups with research activities in the Medical Physics sector so that research innovation and quality standards are maintained and technology/market opportunities are identified and realized- Principal Research Scientist (Radiation Biology)Lead and sustain research activities and program in dosimetry and radiobiology for radiotherapy resulting in recognizable outputs including high quality publications, new research grants, demonstrable impact and realized business opportunitiesResearch InterestsMy main research interest is in radiation biology, advanced radiotherapy and dosimetry. It includes aspects of nano- and micro-scale dose distribution, DNA damage induction by ionising radiation and its repair, radiobiological modelling, cell signalling and the resulting lethal and sub-lethal effects in normal and tumor in vitro and in vivo models. Current ongoing research activities are focused on dosimetry and radiobiology for MRI-based radiotherapy, biological effectiveness of proton and ion beams, use of gold nanoparticle as radio-sensitizers, definition of new dosimetry quantities closely related to biological response and biological optimization of treatment plans. I am also leading UK activities for standardization of dosimetry and QA processes for pre-clinical radiotherapy & radiobiology research. This program is sponsored by the UK government though the Innovate UK agency and supported by the UK Clinical and Translational Radiotherapy Research Working Group (CTRad) and Cancer Research UK (CRUK)
