By working in fine dining in the Clemson area, I uphold the highest standards of service at Rick Erwin's. I am responsible for my guest's experience from the moment they sit down to the moment they leave, and work to create a memorable and lasting impression. I have a working knowledge of our extensive wine and cocktail list and changing menu, which I present to each guest to ensure any and all questions are answered. Working in the area means I have encountered several high-profile celebrities in the world of sports and otherwise, and have successfully remained professional in order to assure them the best dining experience possible. This role has enabled me to build upon my teamwork, communication and oratory skills as well as increased my confidence working under pressure.

In my role, I interview various professors, students and faculty members about their accomplishments to bring their stories to life. My work is published to the Institute's Sports Insight blog, as well as Clemson News and various other academic outlets. I specialize in building relationships with my contacts and look to leave a positive mark on the Institute as a whole.

In addition to my previous duties as assistant, as sports editor I now supervise a team of 21 reporters by delegating stories, editing and writing headlines. Each week I determine appropriate page layouts to guide word count parameters, optimize use of graphics and maximize impact. I also participate in long-term planning for newsrooms' sports content to boost overall strategy for reporters, as well as mentoring them on how to tailor sport-specific content to audiences and platforms. Furthermore, I communicate with SID's regarding credentials for Clemson's 19 varsity sports. On the daily, I monitor sporting events to discuss and report pertinent news as I work to drive a stronger, more memorable approach to sports coverage.

As assistant sports editor, I worked with team members to ensure a smooth editing process. I additionally drafted accurate, engaging and fact-checked stories and met deadlines with reliable, in-depth news coverage. I reported pre-game, live stats and post-game coverage, and interviewed players and coaches to provide fans with team insights.

As a research intern, I review policy change proposals and collect background research from peer institutions. Here, I summarize key findings and perform searches to resolve specific questions in relation to the policy in question. I additionally analyze the collected data and interpret results to write cohesive reports. On a day-to-day basis, I meet with key personnel and discuss the project status, results and findings as well as communicating results and issues to researchers, asking questions and seeking assistance as necessary.
