At Wolven in Nederland we try to aim to ready the Dutch society for the return of wolves in the Netherlands. During the researches I did for my MSc I started giving lectures on the return of wolves in the Netherlands. After finishing my MSc in 2013, I've become more active. Ik vervulde bij RVO team Advisering Natuurwetgeving meerdere taken. Primair bestond mijn werk uit het ecologisch beoordelen van binnengekomen ontheffingsaanvragen voor FFW art 75c. Voor dit werk beoordeelde ik vanuit mijn expertise het uitgevoerde ecologisch onderzoek en voorgestelde mitigerende/compenserende maatregelen. Vrijwel altijd was contact met de aanvrager nodig voor verheldering en/of het overleggen over aanvullende maatregelen. Vervolgens werd het resultaat uitgewerkt in een interne memo met ecologisch advies, gericht aan de besluitmakers van Team Vergunningen van RVO.Daarnaast heb ik diverse projecten ecologisch begeleid waarbij bestuurlijke handhaving centraal stond. Het ging hier veelal om projecten waarbij natuurwaarden zijn aangetast en de oorspronkelijke situatie zo goed mogelijk moet worden hersteld.Ook ben ik betrokken geweest bij bezwaarprocedures, zowel bij een bezwaarprocedure op een ontheffingsbesluit als bij een bezwaarprocedure bij een handhavingszaak. In deze gevallen heb ik ecologisch advies verleend aan medewerkers van de afdeling juridische zaken.

Laneco houdt zich bezig met vragen die relatie hebben met landschap, cultuurhistorie, leefbaarheid en ecologie. Deze onderwerpen hebben natuurlijk raakvlakken, waardoor een brede kennisinzet mogelijk is. Zowel landschap, cultuurhistorie als ecologie komen steeds vaker prominent terug in beleid en wetgeving. Particulieren en overheden krijgen steeds vaker te maken met "lastige" vraagstukken die zonder specialistische kennis niet makkelijk te beantwoorden zijn. Ook komt de leefbaarheid in landelijk gebied en dorpen door schaalvergroting steeds meer in het gedrang. Investigating suitable areas for wolves to live in the Netherlands using GIS and suitable migration routes for wolves from packs in Germany and France to the Netherlands. Main question was: in which cases is the presence of wild averting fences surrounding nature areas necessary and when are alternatives plausible regarding wild boar and red deer? The most important aspects in this study were the functions and effectiveness of wild averting fences, the effectiveness of the zero-tolerance policy and the vision of the district governments of Drenthe, Gelderland and Limburg involving the management of red deer and wild boar. Data on these aspects was collected by literature research, interviews with 18 experts of relevant organizations and analysis of nature legislation and policy.

Starting up a project to research the state of the Juniperus communis in the Netherlands and to educate volunteers and managers about this plant species.
