After spending the last year working on a second career in real estate investing, I realized my true passion lies in creating elegant solutions to challenging technical problems and building and leading inspired teams to create new products and services. I have a strong grasp of numerous software technologies, tools, and languages, including MPEG, HTTP Streaming, UML/XML, Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, C/C++, Linux/Unix, among others. I’m a proponent of Lean Methodology for new product development and thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Member of the CTO Organization, responsible for product and solution architectures, coordination of technologies, and steering technology strategy across Ericsson's TV/Media product portfolio. Activities included developing and driving portfolio roadmaps for cloud and virtualization, working with lead customers on future requirements for solutions, and supporting product and sales organizations on technical issues relating to current and future solutions.Key accomplishments include:• Architecture development of common container deployment platform for Ericsson Media portfolio using Docker and Kubernetes technologies• Architect and driver for converged TV Back-Office initiative. This was a cross-functional initiative that required coordination across multiple product lines, product management and software development organizations. Developed overall architecture and implementation plans, resulting in consolidation of multiple products into a single, cohesive architecture to serve multiple market segments • Driver/evangelist for cloud/virtualization technology. Developed technology blueprint for product support of cloud deployment and related business models.

Led team of system and software architects, responsible for definition and development of platform and product architectures for Ericsson Television application software products. Products and architectures included Ericsson’s Content Management System, Time Shift TV, Multiscreen TV, Video On Demand Back-Office systems, and reference platform architecture.Also responsible for driving patent program and supporting standards participation.Key accomplishments included:• Creator and architect of Ericsson’s Content Management System solution. This system processed MPEG video and metadata for distribution to multiple downstream systems, allowing content providers to repurpose video content for playout on different target systems – HTTP Streaming, etc. • Established hardware/software platform reference architecture, aligning all products on a common foundation and enabling hardware independence for Ericsson Television software products• Established patent program resulting in annual increase of patents filed from 2 to 22 in less than three years• Drove industry standards participation, increasing Ericsson Television standards presence and activity for CableLabs, SCTE, and ATIS IIF bodies

Product development leader for digital cable TV startup N2 Broadband. Led and participated in development of several products contributing to company acquisition by Tandberg and Ericsson. Managed a team of software engineers in development of multiple software products, contributing to two successful acquisitions.Key accomplishments include:• Architect and development lead for Cable TV Switched Digital Video system; developed business model for product approval and system architecture/design; led development team through initial product test. Agile product development in Java/J2EE on Linux.• Architect and development lead for cable set-top box firmware/application distribution and delivery system. Product developed in Java/J2EE on Linux.• System engineering lead and Set-top Box Client development lead for OpenStream Video On Demand (VOD) Back-Office system; developed business case for original product approval; developed VOD client component for cable TV set-top boxes. Client development in C/C++.• Architect and development lead for VOD Asset Management System product. This product processed VOD package metadata for ingestion by specific VOD back-office systems and captured 95% US cable market share. Product developed in Java on Unix (Solaris). • Developed transmission component for MediaPath VOD content delivery system. Development in C++ on Linux. This system provided reliable satellite delivery of VOD content to cable headends and was instrumental to the establishment of the Cable TV VOD business in the US.• Developed DSM-CC session messaging library for VOD Session Manager component. Development in C++ on Linux.

Developed software applications and tools for digital cellular handset test systems. Developed software to implement TDMA digital cellular signalling standard. Development was done in C/C++ for Windows.
