Grand Imports was a run off company to Amplified Sports. After beingcontacted by numerous Australian supplement stores expressinginterest in my products, I created Grand Imports which was mywholesale business. I supplied stores all around Australia such asPlanet Max in Hobart, Burleigh Heads, Tuggeranong and Canberra aswell as other big stores in Melbourne such as A1 Supplements andX-treme Supplements. I ended this venture in May 2013 due to thefalling dollar and obvious future forecast. Duties Include:• Same as Amplified Sports
  • Amplified Sports Pty Ltd
    Director
Amplified Sports Pty Ltd Sep 2011 - May 2013
    Work From Home
Amplified Sports was created to offer Australians gym supplementsthat were not available to the Australia Market. I ran the sameprocess as Boards Unbounded where I had a big supplier in the USA(Europa) except this time I paid out right for inventory and the stockwas sent to my mail forwarding suite in Sarasota where I thenforwarded to myself in Australia (Europa werent allowed to wholesaleoverseas). I imported supplements and sold to Australians verysuccessfully. Customs were always my biggest problem as I wasimporting supplements that Australian customs hadn't seen beforeand after thousands of dollars worth of stock seizures due to certainprohibited ingredients which I needed special permits for, I learned allbanned, controlled and TGA ingredient lists really quick. This wasactually an extremely complicated task and at times I found myselfactually explaining to customs officer supervisors that their staff hadmade mistakes with seizures to get my stuff back as I knew that muchabout it. I continued this business successfully until May 2013 whendooms day came and finally the AU dollar went from above $1USD to$0.90USD. It was around this time that I had seen it coming anywayand I knew that it was only going to get worse so I quit while I wasahead. I thoroughly enjoyed this project and learned a lot from it.Duties Include:• Using foreign exchange platforms• Problem solving• Negotiation with distributors• Continuously expanding product knowledge• Updating of online trading and marketing platforms• Shipping online orders to customers (general public)• Managing my own books• Meeting deadlines• Providing exceptional customer service• Liaising with customs & brokers• Importation of products• Control of inventory to budget• Creating and meeting financial targets• Customer retention• Continuously expanding knowledge of TGA/Food Act/Poisons Actetc for importation• Controls for limiting stock ullage
  • Boards Unbounded Pty Ltd
    Director
Boards Unbounded Pty Ltd Nov 2008 - Aug 2011
    Work From Home
This business was an online Surf, Skate, Wake and Snow Store. I had awholesaler in the USA and also my own private mail forwarding suitein Sarasota Florida. Basically, I advertised hundreds of products thatwere available to me via my wholesaler but carried no inventory at all(Drop Shipping). When a customer purchased a product, mywholesaler would send the product to my mail forwarder who wouldthen DHL 3 day express deliver the product direct to my customer inAustralia. The kicker was that Aus and USA have differentsnow/wakeboard season timings so while a 2015snow/wakeboard was the latest model in AUS, the 2015 modelwas now last season in the states so I got clearance wholesale pricing.I ran this business very successfully until one day I received contactfrom the brand Burton telling me that I was not authorized to importand distribute their product. In a nut shell, other Snow retailers in Aushad complained about me as they wanted to know how I had theproduct range I did at such cheap prices when it was not available tothem. My pricing was super sharp due to the AUS dollar being $1.10to the US during the GFC and I had no inventory or overheads. I hadto cease selling Burton but continued to sell everything else. Thiscontinued for a short while until slowly I was under greater attack andhad threats of court action by Ronix and Liquid Force (Wakeboardcompanies). Those investigations were what ultimately undid me asthe big boys cut me out of the market to protect their localbusinesses. Duties Include:• Liaising with distributors/shippers• Keeping website/product offerings up to date• Creating and meeting financial targets• Managing my own books• Managing a complex shipping program to customers• Creating trust with skeptical customers• Using foreign currency exchange platforms• Continuously expanding product knowledge• Problem solving• Providing exceptional customer service• Creating controls for limiting stock ullage• Meeting deadlines
