● Developed models of geographical disease spread using the Cadmium C++ Discrete Event Simulation library, resulting in the publication and presentation of my work at the 2021 Winter Simulation Conference. See the source on GitHub.● Developed scripts to import real geographical data into the C++ model and compare model timeseries results to region specific public health reports. A series of Python scripts were written for these tasks.● Introduced a Root Mean Squared accuracy metric to compare the difference between model results and public health data, allowing the informed adjustment of model parameters.● Automated the simulation of the model and analysis of results by linking 5 independent tools in a Linux Bash script.

● Designed and implemented embedded software for the control of Switch Mode Power Converters, with sole responsibility for all code implementation. The software was programmed in C for 8-bit Microchip microcontrollers.● Starting with design specifications, I was responsible for selecting microcontrollers, simulating control software with hardware, schematic capture, and finally in-circuit debugging. I completed two design projects in this methodology. C code was developed for PSIM in the hardware and software co-simulation, and Altium Designer was used to draw schematics.● Developed a real time state reporting system whereby the microcontroller reported converter state information via RS-422 to a terminal. Python was used to interpret the terminal information to minimize communication overhead.

● Assisted in the design and testing of high efficiency Switch Mode Power Converters up to 18 kW. My responsibilities included electronics simulation, schematic capture, printed circuit board (PCB) layout, and prototype evaluation. I simulated prototypes using PSIM and used Altium Designer for schematic and PCB layout. ● Completed 4 full PCB layouts from design specifications and performed design changes on over 10 other established PCB projects.● Created accurate PSIM simulation models of integrated circuits for internal use and as a service to clients.● Assembled printed circuit boards comprising of hundreds of surface mount components and performed hardware modifications to existing prototypes for research and development.● Evaluated and debugged prototypes using an Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, and power metering equipment, including measurements of efficiency and electromagnetic interference.

● Developed a hardware test procedure for the exposure of units to environmental and supply voltage extremes.● Performed range testing of wireless communication devices to determine packet success rate as a function of distance, physical orientation, and software build.● Simulated the performance of soft decision Hamming and Golay error correction codes after collecting known wireless data over fixed distances. After analyzing received wireless data, I successfully estimated the frequency of uncorrectable error patterns to inform encoding strategies. The analysis was written as a C program.
