Set up traces and Profiler to troubleshoot performance issues. Analyzed deadlocks & diagnosed issues on the server and configured SQL Server as required.• Worked closely with internal application developer to resolve long running query issue which was causing end of month processes to fail. Through a combination of rewriting SQL code and setting SQL’s max server memory options we were able to reduce the specific processes to sub 3 minutes (a fraction of its original running time). • Worked closely with external contractors to resolve Application/Database performance related issues. • Initial 3 month contract (extended)• Support DBA – Primarily involved with BAU day to day tasks at Health WA. In excess of 150 SQL instances shared between a team of 3 SQL Server DBA’s.• Also part of a 24/7 On-call roster to deal with mission critical incidents – Rostered on once a month. • Performed day to day Database Maintenance tasks -- Clustered & Non-clustered Database Monitoring, Backups & Restores (using Tivoli tape backup system), Space Management, Resource Utilization, responsible for performing object migration between all test, UAT and production database Servers.• Supported multiple SQL Server 2000 / 2005 / 2008 databases in both clustered and non-clustered environments with replication/DTS extracting data from ORACLE databases etc. Performed troubleshoot procedures with issues within a clustered server configuration.• Installed UniVerse(U2) drivers on SQL Servers and completed linked server setup for data migration from legacy systems.• I also worked closely with 3rd party vendors to resolve Application/Database performance related issues.• A number of these server instances were running on windows server 2003 and 2008 VM farms. Part of my role was the administration and maintenance of these SQL SERVER environments.• Whilst at CBH I developed a command line program(using RSScripter) to assist in the deployment of SQL SERVER reporting services reports, created by report developers to migrate SSRS reports into TEST environments. This proved to be a very successful and well-utilized tool.

• 3 month contract (extended)• Primarily involved in the management of the University’s SQL Server 2000/2005 – 2008 Migration Project.• Responsible for setting up new database servers (using SQL custom templates) within a Virtual server environment and migrate the legacy SQL server database’s to SQL SERVER 2008.• Created SQL templates to allow for fast and repetitive deployments of SQL environments.• Implemented full maintenance plans for the University databases including database integrity checks; full and transaction log backups and maintenance cleanup. Scheduled to run daily.• Implemented Log Shipping between the Fremantle and Sydney DR hosts. Log shipping being the preferred DR model for the University’s requirements.• Migration project completed successfully in early July.
