I have worked as a consulting statistician/biostatistician in both academic and non-academic environments for over 15 years. My favorite part of what I do is talking to other people and learning about their research projects and business/data needs. I'm fascinated by the disconnect that often exists between what people think they need and what they actually need. I would argue my strongest two assets are 1) being able to identify needs and explaining why the needs are what they are based upon the information at hand; and 2) explaining difficult concepts to people with varying levels of technical expertise.
