Early training in computers I was self-taught. I began working for a technical support company, Encompass Computers where I earned my A+ and MCP Certifications. My main task was building and upgrading computers and maintaining networks. I worked as a network administrator for Maranatha Baptist Bible College. The college had no wireless coverage so I designed and implemented a wireless network covering more than 15 buildings. I helped to increase the data throughput of the internet connection and took a major role in replacing all managed switches in most of the buildings as well as installing and configuring a VPN for external connectivity for outside users. I also set up a secondary data center and three computer labs.I again gained knowledge and experience at Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services serving as the current Enterprise Information Systems Administrator. As Bethesda began to grow and acquire similar businesses, I was put on an integration team. This team worked for several months to bring all of the newly acquired existing hardware (including computers, printers, and firewalls) up-to-date and in compliance with Bethesda’s standards. While here I have kept all data secure, learned new skills in Net App for San storage, taken oversight of the entire data center, and organized the existing servers while retiring old equipment and recommending and building new servers. By installing and configuring VMWARE, this added over 30 virtual servers to the farm. Installing all-new software and keeping it up-to-date is an ongoing task I maintain. I help plan all major projects for new software purchases and I am a decision-maker for compatibility of the new software. I upgrade all major software for the company. I troubleshoot on the third level for any issues that arise from any of the systems and software critical to the company. This includes backups, management of the SQL servers, and serving as a backup to the network administrator.
