I develop and deliver nature and conservation programming to diverse audiences; primarily, school groups. My favorite projects that showcase my work:- Guided tour programs that provide accessibility to the Urban Stream Research Center, a state of the art freshwater aquatics research and propagation laboratory.- A freshwater mussel-themed STEMgineering program that challenges students to use the NGSS engineering process to develop a model rearing system for freshwater mussels (perfect for Problem-Based Learning).- Novel summer camps that inspire youth to get hands-on in nature exploration and make a positive impact in conservation.- Teacher Institute Day programs that offer teachers nature content knowledge and the opportunity to build science-based skills.- Cocktails & Conservation programs that introduce adults to the Forest Preserve District's real-world science techniques, while they sip on a drink.- Lantern-lit night hike programs for families to safely enjoy the forest preserves after dark.- Self-guided programming that prototyped QR code scavenger hunts and the use of bilingual signage.

I produced printed documents for 100+ businesses and organizations, utilizing digital monochrome presses and color image presses, as well as performed finishing and binding work in a warehouse setting. I was responsible for maintaining a high level of quality control and working in conjunction with many team members that rely on the pace that I set so that production continues at a steady rate. I applied the principals of LEAN (six-sigma) and Quality-Driven-Management in my daily duties and maintained annual Info-SEC certification for confidentiality. I continually improved and documented procedures to make them more efficient or easier, authoring over thirty 'best practice' procedural instruction forms for the company. I was the major contributor to the development of a Direct Mail department training guide. Additionally, I gained proficiency in problem solving while resolving file issues and quality defects and I gained basic machine maintenance skills.

Fullersburg Woods

As a pre-professional naturalist, I represented the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and its mission to connect people with nature. I was responsible for setting up and delivering interpretive nature programming to students and scouts from Pre-K to 12th grade. I developed and prepared two new STEM programs and updated existing youth programs. I provided my own spin on programs by incorporating my knowledge of local wildlife and introducing or modifying activities that got participants hands-on in direct nature experiences. I utilized biofacts and other visual aids in addition to sensory items in supplementing my programs. When programming was light, I was self-motivated and sought out tasks that needed completing such as animal care of exhibit herps, organization and cleanup, and updating visitor information.During our largest seasonal event, the Halloween Walks, I took ownership for visitor safety, and provided orientation and supervision to volunteers. I led by example in organized, methodical set-up and tear-down of the sets and cleanup.I produced a large portfolio of interpretive visual media in this role including handouts, signage, displays and literature.

I was responsible for managing intercommunication between team members as well as coordinating communications between team members and customers. I operated the switch board and provided guest service over the phone and in person. In addition, I merchandised the softlines departments, sorted reshop and assisted with cashiering on occasion. I gained invaluable customer service skills over seven years of experience.

Fullersburg Woods

As a Pre-professional Naturalist, I honed my skills in visitor engagement with school audiences (grades Pre-K to 12). I shadowed staff to learn different methods of interpretation and how to successfully engage with young children. I independently lead preschool and Kindergarten programming and co-lead elementary school programs. In addition, I was responsible for setting up programs, opening and closing the nature center and greeting the public in person and over the phone. In my time with Fullersburg Woods, I also researched Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America programming and pricing in an effort to make our education site more competitive with other nature centers in the region. The data that I compiled was used in making new pricing and programming decisions the following year.
