* Works closely with medical and nursing staff to ensure that patients receive the best treatment, advising on the selection, dose and administration route* Provides education and assistance to patients in all aspects of their medications* Participates in in-house rounds, involvement in decision-making on appropriate treatments* Supervises the work of pharmacy technical support* Ensures medicines are stored appropriately and securely* Performs monthly nursing unit inspections* Performs monthly controlled substance audits* Contributes to the writing guidelines of drug use within the hospital and implements hospital regulations* Answers questions about medicines within the hospital, other hospitals and the general public* Prepares and quality-checks sterile medications, for example, intravenous medications

* Accountable for managing the provision of pharmaceutical care, staff, and work flow processes for the pharmacy department* Managerial oversight to assure effective implementation of care and process changes that positively impact the pharmaceutical care provided to our patients* Responsible for department communications, general operations workflow coordination, and training and staff development

* Maintains pharmacy services in accordance with departmental standards and government laws and regulations* Interviews, selects, orients, instructs, evaluates and disciplines staff* Provides work direction to department personnel* Maintains policies and procedures relating to pharmacy operations * Reviews and approves performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and other issues affecting all pharmacy personnel* Monitors and evaluates existing service levels, systems, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes or additions as required
