HEMP: Roots, Culture, Evolution began as a Hemp History Week Event which took place on Saturday, June 8, 2013. It was a 6 hour long ordeal featuring an art walk, hemp fashion show, documentary film screening of "Hempsters, Plant the Seed", and concert. With the intention of HEMPEd-ucating everyone within our reach. Being that there is no logical reasoning behind the prohibition of this extremely beneficial or, quite seemingly, miraculous plant; cannabis CAN save the world. As Jack Herer said it best, "I don't know if hemp [cannabis] will save the world, but I know it is the only thing that can." His quote resonates so deeply within my being. As we wake up to the issues that we truly face as a species and the illogical "solutions" that mainstream society is pushing on its people, it becomes very obvious that we are by large a society of consumers.This does not necessarily have to be a bad thing, it is with our spending power that we have in our hands the solution. Our current culture has been to give power to those who have no other intention than to stay in power through the manipulation of people through mainstream marketing. They have programmed us into giving up all of our hard earned $ right back to the very people who enslave the masses and create the very issues we face, then turn around and sell us something to "solve" those issues, which is either false or create additional issues for which they can market another "solution". It is a vicious cycle.We aim to be the change, and Cannabis/Hemp in its every possible use can be that change. At the moment we are working on piecing together articles, reviews, stories, interviews, etc. for HEMP: Roots. Culture. Evolution. the magazine. A publication by the culture who can envision a better tomorrow by implementing the solutions today (with disregard for a government or any corporation who attempts to stop real solutions for fear of losing profits or power).
