As team leader for a niche freight forwarder, I held responsibility for achieving financial KPIs and targets and growing the sales pipeline across all aspects of logistics including imports, exports, warehousing and distribution. I managed a team of 12 handling the full suite of logistics services for bule chip companies from scheduling and securing space through to customs, landing and end-point delivery. As a team we were responsible for 20,000 TEU of shipments. I was specifically also responsible as Account Manager for Import Ocean Customers and for ensuring the highest quality of services was provided by my team.

Mapcargo provides services across Import, Export, Domestic, Air, Sea, Roadfreight and Courier. My role entailed holding overall responsibility for all the company’s operations. This included the financial aspects of P&L, cost control and budgeting for all offices and departments, recruitment of staff, and training and mentoring of staff from management through to apprentices. In my years with the company I helped grow the business from three people turning over £200K a year to a business that employing 80 people across multiple sites and a £23 million a year turnover.In addition to active Account Management of the 10 largest client accounts, I maintained and developed supplier and offshore agency relationships and enhanced the company’s offering through product development and quality control systems and quality management. Key achievements• Integrating New Businesses (Phoenix Aircargo and Aviation Support) into the Mapcargo Operation • Negotiating and managing the core ocean freight and airfreight contracts• Route Development – Working with all RDM’s to improve services and increase sales. • Dealing with HMC&E to ensure compliance with all aspects of the business’s customs activities • Liaising with customs experts to assist customers save duty or introduce customs regimes • Assisting with Due Diligence for purchasing of new Businesses• Management of software and company IT systems including the creation of digital processes for managing workflows, ordering and customer accounts.
