Worked on a project to load FirstVision IAS files into SAS data mart which was part of a conversion of the Credit Card Management system from First Data Equasion to First Data FirstVision. Also completed a migration/reorganisation of the SAS DI Studio metadata.Extensively used a number of technologies for the first time including SAS 9.2, Management Console, Enterprise Guide 4.3 and SAS Grid Computing.Took a few months off for travelling at the end of 2012 and returned back to the Cooperative bank to work on its Regulatory reporting programme. In common with the majority of Financial Institutions in the UK, the Cooperative are currently developing numerous Regulatory Reports required by the PRA & FCA. I was focussed on Liquidity Reports which required accessing data from several business areas and consolidating the data. This work was completed using a SAS Grid Architecture with SAS DI Studio being the principal Development tool.
The card conversion project concerned the Spain cards portfolio that was being moved from Experian Gems to First Data VisionPLUS. This required new data load procedures to be developed for the new extract files and a conversion of the historical data. I was the lead developer in this role and responsible for the majority of the work. The project was implemented successfully and much more efficiently than two other departments who were completing similar work.
The Barclays project was a Capacity Management reporting system. The system processed performance statistics from Barclays major platforms and produced management reports on the web. This identified performance trends and allowed the IT management staff to identify areas of concern before the customers were directly impacted. I wrote a number of routines to capture the data and produce the web based reports.
The More project is a major development of the Bank of America credit cards operation within the UK. It will allow BOA to provide flexible pricing and promotions under the UK brand of MBNA. I supported the implementation of More for the Risk department in the UK. Having worked previously for MBNA I was brought in to provide additional resource during the key implementation period. The roles I covered included providing Project Management and supporting UAT. This involved supporting the implementation project plans for the Portfolio Quality department and writing a number of key implementation tests. I was also involved in coding and executing a number of UAT and implementation tests. The implementation was extremely smooth and ran almost exactly according to plan.
I again worked solely on the Basel project whilst working for Britannia Building Society, and again this covered a variety of roles. I originally provided acceptance tests on their Member Business Retail mortgages. I also implemented a number of updates to the models and developed a number of monitoring reports that were run against their model results. In the second half of 2007 I started to work on their Platform business which is the Britannia intermediary lender specialising in Prime and Non Conforming mortgages. The main areas I worked on for Platform were the model recalibration and Basel Stress testing.Shortly before leaving the Britannia they received approval of their Basel application from the FSA.
I worked solely on the Basel project whilst working for Nationwide Building Society, but this covered a variety of roles.I was originally employed to implement a Basel model for their Commercial Lending arm at Northampton. This was implemented within a .NET environment. After this I implemented Basel models for their Treasury department using the same environment. I also implemented their Retail Basel models that were run against a data warehouse that was delivered against a SQL Server database. This is one of the largest SQL Server databases in Europe.
I joined SAS as a Technical Consultant. The role at SAS covered Pre Sales, Delivery and Education. I considerably developed my soft skills during my time at SAS. In addition to technical training, I attended training courses on solution selling, business writing, negotiation skills and a Front Line Manager course on management. The Pre-Sales role involved supporting the SAS account manager to position the SAS solution to business problems. I attended a solution selling course in Madrid and applied the principles from the course in many successful sales situations. The consultancy role involved delivering SAS solutions to business problems. The role covers all the traditional tasks associated with the project life-Lifecycle. I therefore worked in a project management role, a business analyst role, a systems analyst role and a programming role on many projects during my time at SAS. In latter years I concentrated on the project management role. I maintained and built on my extensive experience of all SAS software. My technical knowledge of SAS is excellent in the areas of Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Balanced Scorecards and Web delivery and I have conducted a number of internal courses to other SAS consultants. I presented on the following topics:-• The SAS MI solution implemented for smile internet bank.• The SAS data warehousing solution.• New features of SAS software.• Communicating across platforms.I was promoted to Team Leader in 2001. This change meant that I was responsible for managing 5 staff within the Manchester office. I also took on further responsibility for helping to generate professional services revenues and recruit new members of technical staff.
I was employed by Airtours as an Analyst Programmer to develop PC based solutions. The first major project I worked on was to implement a resort PC system. This system was used by the resorts for administration. I was responsible for training the resort staff and implementing the systems. The job therefore included a significant amount of worldwide travel. The system was written in COBOL and extracted data from the mainframe in the UK and transferred files to the resorts around the world. In 1994 I started working on an MIS that was used by the finance department. During this time I was reporting to the Finance director. The system was developed by Comshare. I was responsible for providing recommendations about the software that should be used for the MIS that Airtours decided to develop. The software recommended in 1995 was SAS. I was then responsible for redeveloping the existing EIS and developing the first Sales & Marketing system that used SAS. This went in on-time and to plan in 1996.
I was employed as an Analyst / Programmer to develop PC based applications using the Foxpro package. I developed an application generator whilst I was working at Norwest Holst. The application generator applied the JSP principles that I had used at GMP.The main project I worked on at Norwest Holst was a production control system. This system was applied on large scale construction projects. I also developed a Loss Adjusters system for Fishers Loss Adjusters which was part of the group.
I was employed by Greater Manchester Police as a Trainee. Whilst at GMP I completed my degree on a part time basis at Manchester Polytechnic. During my time at GMP I was promoted to a programmer. I also spent time on technical support for PC's. I worked on a project control system using Jackson Structured Programming principles which was written using the Dbase system.
