Graham McFarland MEng MSt CEng MICE MIStructE FCSGraham leads the AECOM Bridges & Structures team in Edinburgh, where his responsibilities include: providing technical support and oversight on projects; team management, including staff reviews and utilisation; business development, including managing Client relations and local marketing; and, compilation and approval of tender submissions.Graham has a wealth of experience gained from work in civil and structural design, bridge inspections and assessments, and project management. In addition to his consultancy experience, he has worked as a Site Engineer during a secondment to the Main Contractor on a major road-building project and as a Senior Engineer during a part-time secondment to a City Council, where he was involved in the day-to-day organisation and operation of their Bridges team.Graham’s technical responsibilities have included conceptual / schematic design, detailed design, independent checking, bridge inspections and assessment work. He is familiar with the relevant procedures relating to the approval and certification of both highway and railway structure designs in the UK. Graham has been responsible for the development and management of projects for both public and private clients, including the preparation of option and viability studies, outline and detailed scheme design and preparation, tendering and contract administration.Between October 2017 and April 2018 Graham was interim Profit & Loss (P&L) Manager for AECOM Scotland & Ireland Bridges team during a sector reorganisation. During this time his responsibilities included: financial oversight, including monthly project business reviews; financial performance, including project cash and billing; and, tendering strategy, including go/no-go decisions and final approval of tenders submitted by the business unit.Graham is past-Chair of the ICE Glasgow & West of Scotland Branch (session 2020/21).
