Gordon Cressman is a senior independent consultant. With more than three decades of experience, he has been a pioneer in using information and communications technologies for international development. He is experienced in every phase of information system design and implementation, including assessment, strategic planning, operational planning, systems integration, procurement, installation, training, and operation. His ICT applications experience spans health, education, and governance. He has helped organizations in 32 developing countries to use ICT effectively through sustainable strategies sensitive to the local environment.Gordon retired from RTI International in January 2020 after more than 36 years of dedicated service. At RTI he led an experienced team of information and communication technology and monitoring and evaluation experts working in health, education, and governance. He served as Senior Information and Communication Technology Adviser for projects that collect, manage, and analyze health information from sites in 15 countries. In Zambia he led a team that created one of the first successful electronic-first medical record systems in Africa. In Iraq he worked with the Ministry of Health to create a training management and supervision system for primary care providers, a pilot Web-based continuing medical education system, and video conferencing via satellite to improve communications and enable distance learning. He also led a project that developed an electronic real estate registration system for Iraq's Ministry of Justice. In Jordan he conducted an assessment of ICT used to deliver e-Learning for the ground-breaking Jordan Education Initiative.
