Leading a department with 29 team members, and reporting to the Director of Education, I worked closely with the Executive Team to set and guide the strategy for all communications plans across all channels including but not limited to social media, direct staff and caregiver communications, and the public facing website. I approved all public relations messages consistent with the PDSB’s strategic directions and values, served as the spokesperson as needed, and provided media training for all staff speaking to the media. My team was responsible for issue mapping and response, strategic communications planning across departments, large event management, and audio visual production. I further managed a multi-million dollar departmental budget, was responsible for HR functions for my team across multiple collective bargaining units, and facilitated change management and strategic planning initiatives.
