Working directly with an Afghan National Army Brigade Headquarters in Helmand, Afghanistan. Identifying problems within the ANA that affect their ability to provide local security. I was tasked initially with personnel and finance which included some of the top systemic issues affecting the Afghan National Security Forces due to the lack of reliable pay and banking facilities and the huge desertion rate which has obvious knock on effects. I was also involved in operational planning and conducting large scale tactical operations, at battlegroup and formation levels, as well as mentoring operational and intelligence teams. Pertinent to physical security I took the lead in writing the British forces security procedures for Camp Shorabak the ANA Divisional camp next to Camps Bastion and Leatherneck.

I was involved in the Foot and Mouth crisis in South West Scotland as a team commander controlling the spread of the disease through controlled culling and was lead with the set up of the only burial pit in Scotland. My Company was involved in in Public Duties within Edinburgh such as guarding Edinburgh Castle.During such time I was honoured to be the Guard Commander of Her Majesty the Queen whilst she was in residence at the Palace of Holyrood House.
