How did we create Folm?The Folm Team has been following cryptocurrency for many years and has a vast amount of experience with the technology. We decided to develop our own coin to solve real-world problems and to better serve the needs of the crypto world.Our research to build Folm began with reviewing and evaluating the source code for Bitcoin, its strengths as a cryptocurrency, as well as its problems. Some of Bitcoin’s challenges include slow block times, insufficient block… Show more How did we create Folm?The Folm Team has been following cryptocurrency for many years and has a vast amount of experience with the technology. We decided to develop our own coin to solve real-world problems and to better serve the needs of the crypto world.Our research to build Folm began with reviewing and evaluating the source code for Bitcoin, its strengths as a cryptocurrency, as well as its problems. Some of Bitcoin’s challenges include slow block times, insufficient block size, blockchain synchronized nodes, and the threat of ASIC mining. In short, Bitcoin’s transaction speeds are too slow and too many ASIC miners could threaten the security of the blockchain. ASIC mining farms create huge spikes in difficulty ​​that rise and fall, momentarily disrupting the healthy creation of new blocks. To address the speed issue, Folm blocks are written 5 times faster and we have increased our block size by 4 times. We also added a MasterNode system for full node support, which further increases the security, privacy, and speed of transactions. To maintain the blockchain network, Folm uses a combination of the ASIC-resistant Phi1612 algorithm for Proof-of-Work mining, and Dark Gravity Wave (DGW), which frequently adjusts difficulty to match the network hashrate. The result is a more stable blockchain that transacts 20 times faster than Bitcoin!In addition to the core blockchain layer of Folm, we are also developing an application layer, which will provide convenience for receiving and sending money. The application layer includes systems for management and services that will allow users to access their balance from virtually anywhere for merchants and retailers. Businesses can receive payments for goods and services through social media, allowing customers easy and private purchases, removing the need for third-party payment providers. The same technology can be used to easily schedule Folm payments for subscriptions or other timed events—great for future contracts. Show less
