I currently work as a lead developer at PayStream. My role includes: development and support of in-house software for desktop and web; sprint planning and management through scrum and kanban.Technologies: C#/VB.NET, WPF, WinForms, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET WebAPI, MSTest, T-SQL, TFS, Git, EntityFramework.Patterns: TDD, DDD, MVVM, Agile/Scrum/Kanban.PayStream:Run by qualified accountants and lawyers PayStream provide a range of payroll and accountancy services for contractors. I’ve been working with this team in my spare time whilst still working my full time job at PayStream. It has been a very challenging experience, being the sole programmer on the team meant there was a lot of responsibility and I also had to help some members of the team become more familiar with Unity.

I worked at sdesign1 as a .NET/Web Developer. I worked as the lead developer and project manager on an MVC project which would be used by multiple city councils.My responsibilities included: liaising with clients, assigning tasks to the rest of the team, deploying new versions of the web application to servers, bug fixing, new functionality, paired work with other members of the team.I was also involved in planning new work and estimating times for work to give costings to clients.

Student PlacementOn this student placement, I was working as a software developer, making web applications provided by STARS IT services to the students and residents of the university halls. I worked on two large projects rewriting existing systems. The first system was a large application with different areas of authentication for students and management positions. This was developed using the MVC framework on .NET 3.5. I also had to do some database migration work to move old data into a new database format. The application linked into the database using an Object Relational Mapping (ORM) tool called NHibernate. I gained more experience using NHibernate on the second project, which at the same time moved to MVC2 and .NET 4.0. On the second project, it was handled using Agile/Scrum development and involved regular meetings with the ‘clients’ to demonstrate progress. I was involved in presenting these meetings, alternating between myself and a fellow developer. The placement provided me with excellent experience of team development and working in a professional environment. I also got to experience working to the strict deadlines involved with agile development.

In this post I had to relay calls between voice and text users. In this role I demonstrated an excellent telephone manner, good quality typing skills and the patience and understanding required for individual calls, depending on their nature.

In this role, I would primarily make outbound calls to arrange delivery dates for customer orders, as well as receive inbound calls of the same nature. I would also receive calls about general enquiries also. This job has helped me to develop people a skill through dealing with customer enquires politely and professionally. I have developed good team working skills in team meetings when discussing new ways to help achieve targets and improve motivation within the team.
