During the summer term, I had accoplished my intership with working in the field of research and production at the foundry institute of metallurgical and materials engineering. I was part of permanent mould group and I worked on following topics: - Literature review: * Investigation of the effect of different grain refiner in Al-Si alloys on the structure and final mechanical properties * Investigation of the influence of Cr and Ag additions in Al-Si alloys * Investigation of the interaction of grain refinement and heat treatment in Al-Si alloys -Execution of casting trials with a low silicon aluminium alloy with different concentrations of grain refiners-Sample preparation and analysis of grain size on barker-etched samples
