As an expert with the Microsoft Dynamics Finance and Operations ERP data model, it is my responsibility to build and lead a team to implement Business Intelligence systems for our clients. Duties include:- Architecting near real-time data pipelines using Data Lakes, Synapse Analytics, serverless pools and SQL Server Change Data Capture output- Creating enterprise data warehouses using Kimball dimensional modeling techniques- Writing complex SQL for data extraction, transformation and validation (ETL)- Creating certified Power BI datasets with Power Query- Authoring DAX measures and Power BI reports- Providing roadmap strategies to our clients regarding Azure data architecture, data security, data governance, development best practices- Hiring and mentoring new team members- Leading the company Center of Excellence for Business Intelligence, preparing internal training and facilitating discussion around data governance - Designing informative dashboards by introducing OKRs and KPIs - Converting line level operational reports into action oriented data insights

- Lead the Business Systems team which is responsible for Dynamics AX (General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Production, Master Planning and Inventory modules), the corporate data warehouse and building/architecting web based solutions that integrate with Dynamics AX. Over 12 years, built a deep, functional understanding of each of the business units and their relationships through the ERP system- Provided leadership, recruited and mentored talent, led solution ideation activities and delivered results that were regularly lauded by senior management- Managed direct reports activities and progress with TFS. Fostered adoption of SCRUM software development methodology, participated in backlog grooming- Configured MRP to provide results reliable enough for automatic firming of production and purchase orders. Created inquiries associated with auto-firming activities for users to efficiently manage the exceptions- Created a web based application used at 100+ factory work cells that integrates with Dynamics AX, displaying prioritized production orders based on safety stock and sales orders. Run order is computed based on algorithms using priority and family group setups. Setups are automatically sent to robotic PLCs- Implemented a procurement automation system that generates and emails purchase orders with links to a custom, web based acknowledgement portal - Worked with all departments to model, implement and verify a comprehensive corporate data warehouse, enabling an alternate, unified reporting platform- Dynamics AX User Group chapter leader, organized events, chaired meetings and gave presentations- Software developed at Marshalltown uses continuous integration (CI), TFS source control, design and code review processes along with automated testing and deployment

Original member of data warehouse team that grew to over 20 people. Lead designer and implementer of modular SSIS packages, stored procedures, configuration files, tables, views, and functions for DW containing billions of rows and terabytes of data.Designed ODS and disk partitioning strategy using enterprise class SAN for staged data from source systems. Built SSIS packages for incrementally processing data from ODS to DW fact and dimension tables. Optimized transforms, and type 2 / type 3 SCD processes where performance was critical. Created system for capturing, reporting, and correcting error data, improving data reliability and quality.Used Power Designer to help document and maintain the system. Deeply involved in designing and modeling the claims, providers and pharmacy data marts.Trained ETL developers and liaised with other data warehousing groups within the state of Iowa, on SSIS development, data warehouse development, and ETL best practices. Worked with DBAs, and systems support personnel in automating nightly data warehouse loads and quality control tests.

Developed custom ETL logic for augmenting dimension tables in a Sybase IQ data warehouse. All development, testing and implementations were completed in accordance to SDLC methodology. Presented formal project implementation plans to the enterprise architecture team and answered detailed questions about the planned changes. Participated in code reviews.Built robust file extract and transfer system for external integration with other Blue Cross affiliates. The SQLServer DTS packages included detailed logging, error checking, monitoring, encryption and security modules.Responsible for benchmarking SQL database performance. Produced database capacity requirements and projections. Tuned developer SQL queries. Provided database indexing recommendations.

Lead developer for PL/SQL, responsible for developing and documenting procedures and workflows for corporate OLTP application. Created a tool to generate CRUD based abstraction procedures for data access and mentored .NET developers with best practices for database access.When necessary, recommended changes to the data model and wrapped complex storage and data access requirements with server side PL/SQL logic.

Worked on a team of Oracle database engineers to develop a dynamic ETL system to populate the data warehouse using a real-time OLTP data stream. The code was written and tested using PL/SQL. SQL performance was a critical aspect to this task.Wrote a configurable, structured reporting framework that produced multilingual, currency independent corporate reports. The framework implemented corporate presentation standards and single point of entry to common corporate calculations.

Worked as a Network Administrator and Unix System Administrator. Became an expert developer in C programming language - still one of my favorite languages and I use it today in my hobby Arduino projects.Developed and applied a deep understanding of computer algorithms while working in Operating Systems group for Sun Microsystems. Mastered professional development practices (source control, continuous integration, peer code reviews and automated regression testing). On-site technical liaison, working with developers at some of Sun's biggest customers, helping them overcome application development hurdles.
