I’m a queer woman, critic, editor, and author. I’ve written professionally, academically, and as a hobby about video games, film, critical theory, and literature. My verticals and interests include gender, religion, and environmentalism. Though I was born, raised, and currently reside in Utah, I’ve studied and worked across Europe, most especially in Germany and Austria, where I lived for two and half years. In December 2019, I got my first video game byline at Uppercut. Since then I’ve contributed at Vice, Into the Spine, Sidequest, and Unwinnable. I still write a monthly column at Uppercut about religion, christianity, and role playing games. My work as a critic has been met with praise across the video games press. The blogging round up outlet Critical Distance featured my articles over 20 times, including in critical round-ups about specific games, such as Pathologic, Breath of the Wild, and Final Fantasy VII. Until June 2021, I worked SEO/marketing firm Boostability, which emphasizes the value of the details. While SEO requires a broad analysis, one that I didn’t have a picture of as an entry level worker, each piece requires an emphasis on the the nitty gritty. My job as an Offsite Content Marketing Specialist meant editing blog posts for sites outside the company and placing a link to promote one of our clients. Correct grammar, the right keyword, and thoughtful alt image text can make or break an article’s SEO value. Editing, promoting, and submitting guest blogs was an exercise in watching out for those details to ensure that the article would actually help the client climb the rankings on Google. Our team was so successful, that as the pandemic shifted priorities, we were asked to help with other teams, especially in editing articles and writing comments. Boostability was confident that we could compliment the excellent work of other teams. From my background, I have established myself as an effective critic, thinker, and writer. I would be an effective addition to any journalistic or marketing team. I hope to hear from you soon and show my qualifications in an interview.
