I am a Barrister at Essex Court Chambers specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration. Current and recent highlights of my commercial litigation practice include (i) Munícipio de Mariana and Ors v BHP Group Plc and BHP Group Ltd (ongoing), the largest opt-in class action lawsuit in English legal history arising from the collapse of the Fundão Dam in Brazil; (ii) advising on matters requiring Portuguese expertise in The Republic of Mozambique v Credit Suisse International & Ors (ongoing); (iii) JSC Commercial Bank PrivatBank v Kolomoisky, a US$1.9 billion fraud claim brought by the bank against its former shareholders; (iv) advising in contentious Chancery proceedings arising out of the failure of a close-ended investment fund in Guernsey.Current and recent highlights of my arbitration practice include: (i) UNCITRAL arbitration between two entities in the insurance sector; (ii) UNCITRAL arbitration involving issues of contractual construction; (iii) LCIA arbitration arising out of an employment dispute.As a fluent (Brazilian) Portuguese speaker and Luso/Brazilophile, I have a particular interest in Lusophone disputes. I am able to take instructions in Portuguese.
